E-mail from Apple after we contacted them about our problems with some example code:

Hi Emiel,

After going back and forth with 3 levels of engineering this very much looks like a regression in BT since the behavior was changed between 10.8 and 10.9 - as the change made at a low level has caused the AVFoundation usage pattern that was working in 10.8 to break and on 10.9 no device is accessible though the exposed aggregate HAL device.

Can you please file a bug report for this and send me the bug ID so I can escalate it back to OS engineering. It appears some further plumbing work will be required internally to fix this. Please include your test case as well as these logs as they do indeed provide very useful information.

thank you.

Another e-mail after we requested an estimated time of fix:

Hi Emiel,

Thank you for filing the bug report. Unfortunately Developer Technical Support cannot comment on timetables or even make assumptions about when specific fixes will actually be implemented. I can say however that OS X engineering is now well aware of the problem though my escalations and the bug report is the action item for them to figure out how to rectify the situation.

For bug status reports, please update the bug with your inquiry at for the fastest response. Once a fix has been made and a seed version available, you may be contacted by our developer bugs team and asked to verify the fix.

regards, edward
